The Most Beautiful Thing

Every day of our lives we interact with people that are different than us. No matter how different they are they should be granted the same respect that you look for yourself. Today is Disability Awareness Day (at least in the UK it is, so it's just as good for the rest of us to look at the day too!) So I wanted to share this video with you, because it spoke very loudly to me.

All in all, I'm not looking to make a huge statement. All I want is to help you open your mind to look outside your comfort zone.

We're all different, some of us just have differences that have to be looked at with different eyes.

What's on Screen? : Tales of Halloween

I had a blast a few weekends back watching movies and working on character creation for a tabletop rpg. I am amused to say that it seems like we're not the only ones to have watched Tales of Halloween that weekend. It seems a lot of my friends think alike.  Which is both a positive surprise, and something I couldn't have planned. We've been watching mostly anime there, so it was a nice change to watch something new.

When me and my friends get together we have a tendency to pick out horror movies, or horror comedies to watch. That is if there's not some cartoon we've yet to see on the chart as being of interest. We only recently found out a newer member of our circle has a problem with zombies. Which might explain their aversion to horror films.

All in all, Tales of Halloween, is a cute film. It has some amusing scenarios, unbelievable mostly, but still interesting enough to keep the audience's attention. I must admit that I do think the number of stories made it drag a bit, as well as proved distracting. It was fun to try and see the places where the stories would overlap. Yet 11 stories in one movie, proves to have short stories, and limits the amount of depth the parts received.

If you're interested in a movie that has similarities to Tales from the Crypt, and other horror shows this will meet your expectations. There's a little bit of language. But it's not so gory that you couldn't watch it with older children (figure 11 and up). The costuming is fun, and even the computer animation was amusing. Watch closely and you'll see how the stories are woven together, lots of fun when you spot these things.

Have fun and don't scare yourself. Let someone else do that for you.

Strain

This video entitles Strain is not the usual fair I know some of you may expect us to pick. But this was picked and posted today for a reason. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Found smack dab in the middle of National Suicide Prevention Week, it's a day to reflect on. I know we've posted about suicide before, but it doesn't hurt to have a reminder that it's not an exclusive answer.

Please watch closely, and reflect on it. Sure they don't talk. But the text says a lot, and let's be honest a lot of teens and young adults today don't really say everything they mean out loud.

I'm actually thrilled by this short horror film. On sooooooo many levels! It's so refreshing to see a vamp that's insulted by the sparkling. As well as see one  that uses the sunrise to his best advantage. (sorry...slight spoiler). But yeah, great short film hope you enjoy it!

Identity

Today's short video is called Identity. It looks at the idea of masks and individuality on an interesting level. I think a number of us can understand the frustration of having to pretend at times that we're something we aren't. But...what if we didn't?

Plastic

This short film called Plastic is interesting for a few reasons. One, it illustrates how much people wish they could change themselves. Two, it shows how silly we may look if we did have the ability to change ourselves willy nilly. I hope you enjoy todays choice ^_^
