Tune Tuesday : Let's get out of 2017

Today is an alternate to music monday because yesterday was christmas for a lot of folks and I didn't feel like posting. This time of year isn't my best time of year. In fact I've been calling myself a grinch... which isn't entirely true. It's more that I've lost what holiday spirit I've ever had. I don't think I'm ever going to find it again. But luckily the next holiday we have coming up is new years eve.

So we're finally kicking 2017 with all it's negativity out the door. Unfortunately we have at least 3 more years to get through like this. And I don't know if that's going to happen or not.

But for now let's have a New Years Playlist, and not worry about the future and just hope for a happy and safe new year.

A Christmas Gift For You

It was the night before Christmas and all through the town, snowflakes were falling straight down to the ground. The streets were all slushy as cars drove around, and worried shoppers traveled wanting gifts to abound. But regardless of wishes, and hopes of the year, there was something still lacking, pure Christmas cheer.

For while they were buying, and wrapping this stuff. They were forgetting the true meaning of unquestioned love.

For Christmas isn't really about things or stuff, it's about the people in our life that we really love.

The ones we hold close when we weep bitter tears. The ones that have moved on over the years. The memories we make with the people who care, are part of what this holiday is really about. There is something to be said for love and hope.

But so many people don't quite get that note.

So for this holiday I wonder if you, may want a gift that is worthless to some. But if you open your mind, and you open your heart, perhaps there inside you will find the small spark.

Because this year for Christmas I'm sending you love.

Thank you for being here, and for being a friend.

Thank you for helping share Magic.

And thank you for not giving up on me.

Life Update

I know that it's been awhile since I wrote an honest to goodness update about what I'm doing. But I think you've waited long enough, and I believe it's necessary to share some information with you. Nothing that will matter to most readers, but people who know me face to face or in a variety of situations may find it illuminating.

I've been dealing with a variety of pain and numbness in my left arm, which through Doctors visits and physical therapy, has currently been identified as a pinched nerve. The extent of this varies, as sometimes it feels like I've been outside too long with pins and needles, and other times it burns. Before the numbness it felt frequently as though there were golf ball sized knots in my arm. So I've been honestly having trouble focusing.

To go along with the pain, I've been having trouble sleeping. This in and of itself wouldn't be such a bad thing, but since the holidays are here, people have expectations of the type of schedule they would like me to keep.

Oh and all 5 of my brothers are currently engaged or married. Which leaves me as the odd one out of that odd clubhouse. Not because I want to be in it, but because everyone else acts like there's something wrong with me because I'm not.

Then there's the whole issue of politics. It's actually terrifying to watch, knowing that it's been proven now that they have no interest in doing what's in the best interest of the little people. I feel both disgusted and distressed because as it stands I don't know how I'm going to make ends meet now that things are going to start going up uncontrolled. Everything has been going up as it was, except for peoples pay rates. All we have anymore is bills and the question of how to pay them.

I don't know what to say anymore. Lately it seems futile to write anything at all, because no one is going to see it. I could have the most fascinating input, or a great idea and I keep squashing it because I see no point.

Why do the little people, the people at the level where I exist, where ends don't always meet, bother to exist? Why do we exist?

We exist because this is what's left. The shining gold era people seem to be clinging to when the United States had real industries is gone, businesses shipped over and out to other countries. Even Oreo's are made somewhere else now on the most part. Isn't that disheartening?

I hate the apathy that fills people throughout the country. Apathy and anger. They're angry but they don't want to do anything to change it, because they feel like there's nothing to do to change anything. Turning everything into an endless ball of bullshit. They take their angry out on people, just like them, instead of the people that are creating the unjust and unfair world we're left with.

I hate that people care more about what a movie star is having for dinner than their neighbors. I hate that people are more worried about what the Kardashians are wearing , rather than what their neighbors aren't. I find it sad that people are so worried about clothing labels, or shoes instead of what looks good on them. Or what they like themselves. Money doesn't buy happiness, experience does.

I hate that I feel like I've got nothing that I can do to help. I feel like my life is pointless, and to be honest I think I'm losing what bits of hope I did have.

Without hope what is there?

Where is hope now?

On Screen : Cinderella and Four Knights

It seems like yesterday I was writing about the Korean Drama Goblin, and how exciting I found it. To be honest, reality television has nothing to offer me, so I'm looking for alternate options. KDrama seems to be one of my chosen interests. My most recent one being Cinderella and Four Knights.

To be honest the title seems a bit misleading at first, but as the 16 episodes wrap up it all makes more sense. There are multiple storylines layered up to create a semi realistic plot line, with a number of facets to keep the watcher interested. The love triangles are a bit hard to see as realistic, but when you hold it up against the problems in reality television, this is a piece of cake to follow.

The music is wonderful also. The show is 16 episodes, with about an hour spent on each episode. So you can binge it and enjoy the music without coming to hate it for repetition sake. I also enjoy the facial expressions the actors have, and the different outfits worn throughout the series.

I'm not going to spoil it. I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed it. If you watch it let me know what you think.

Music Monday : Christmas is Creeping Closer

It's December and everywhere you look there are people already celebrating, planning their parties, exchanging gifts with loved ones and coworkers. It can seem a bit overwhelming at times, but that shouldn't make you hate the season.

So from a grinch over here, here's wishing you a good holiday season. And we'll be back during the week with more magic.

Hanson : Finally it's Christmas

Connie Francis : I'm Going to Be Warm This Winter

Brenda Lee : I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus

And an extra audio file to enjoy, a story.

Music Monday : Holiday Time

Alright Let's Go! This is the first of our Winter Holiday Music  Mondays.

Today we're getting started with our holiday music. Which means that by the time Christmas rolls around we'll hopefully have a unique winter holiday playlist. Hopefully the songs we pick will help to give you a break from the repetitive cycled music you'll hear while shopping. I also hope that you're inspired to look for more variety when it comes to the holidays.

The classics are wonderful, but there are some new pieces that are just as delightful. Stay magical and remember it's a downhill slope out of 2017.

Never Shout Never - 30 Days

The Flaming Lips - A Change At Christmas (Say It Isn't So)

The Killers - Don't Shoot Me Santa

Relient K - Merry Christmas, Here's To Many More

The Reverend Horton Heat - Santa Bring My Baby Back

Off the Shelf: Winter Wishes

I love me an anthology.  I think you really do get more bang for the buck, getting a selection of reading material grouped together on a central theme.  If one story isn't quite up your alley, other may well be.

This is a newer addition to my bookshelf - in fact, I just got it last week as a present while grocery shopping.  I love romance anthologies, as I feel they offer more, and they are normally more romance-oriented over adult themes than other members of the genre.

Winter Wishes
Christmas Kisses by Fern Michaels, 101 pages
Blue Moon Harbor by Susan Fox, 104 pages
Second Chance Christmas by Jules Bennett, 81 pages
Finding Colin by Leah Marie Brown, 98 pages

Book total: 399 pages (there are some blank pages and after words in there)

Each of these novellas is an easy read.  They are all relatively short, and each is different in it's own way.  The first has a quirky, creative heroine starting over fresh, the second are old lovers reunited, the third are people who originally met in hard circumstances being reintroduced in a different light, and the last is a woman fixated on the unattainable setting out to find it, but finding something new that may be a better fit.

Nice taglines, huh?  I'm proud to say those little summaries are my own.

While each of these shorts are similar in that they involve Christmas, they are all different, too.  Personally, I got the least enjoyment from Blue Moon Harbor, but that is, conversely, because it seems the most realistic to me.  In the heroine's shoes, I'd want to punch the male lead, which makes the fictional lead a better woman than I am... maybe a little too unrealistically so?  My favorite is a toss-up between lead author Fern Michael's addition and then Jules Bennett's Second Chance Christmas.  Of the two, Michael's is the more light-hearted read, and a little more traditional for a quick, neatly-tied romance offer, while Jules adds in a bit more weighty subject matter, dealing with loss and, of course, second chances.  I found Finding Colin enjoyable and different, both in that it is the only of the four stories to use first-person perspective, and that the heroine is relatably realistic in her quirks, if a bit, um, fan-girl-extreme for my tastes.

I was open about the fact I like sappy romances, and this is in that category.  I honestly love books like this, especially around Christmas time.  I can't explain why, I just do.  I've been looking for these at my local used book store, but haven't had much luck, so I was overjoyed to find one at the grocery store that I was allowed to splurge on for $5.99.  I won't completely gender-lock this one, as I know some men who read romances, but I do think it's geared more toward female audiences.  Anyone who wants romance without in-your-face adult themes and likes the holidays will get something from this book, with probably young-adults and up that are interested in the genre being the best audience for the collective work.

Just Visiting : Hamburgh Holidays

Alright, so sometimes there's an interesting event in your own backyard that's worth mentioning. And for me I'm throwing out Hamburgh Holidays. This is a series of events that celebrates the various winter holidays in the town of Hamburg, NY. But why is it interesting enough to mention? I love when people ask that part.

Hamburgh Holidays is an event that kicks off this month on what they're calling "Green" Friday(Black Friday to most shoppers aka today), continuing through December 31st with a variety of events for the whole family. I'm particular interested in seeing the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday November 25th, maybe I'll find someone who wants to go with me.

Anyway check out the calendar below, and if you decide to go to the event, let me know what you thought. Have a magical weekend and I hope you found what you were looking for.

Shops for a Unique Look

Today we're going to be looking at some more accessories. There's nothing like an accessory to give the right amount of detail to a look. Plus sometimes the right accessory becomes more than an accessory, they become a staple to your daily look. So today we're going to be looking at shops that offer a variety of items you can add to your outfits to create depth and detail.

Wanou Et Moi

This shop offers a wonderful variety of hair accessories made from a wide selection of materials. Their Twisty Locks make a fantastic alternative to a scrunchy or hair tie. They aren't just for dreadlocks or straight hair, they're for all kinds of hair. I even heard talk that they're going to be releasing wool beads soon for adding color and pop to your hair. Currently not available through etsy, you can order through facebook or instagram. Custom orders always welcome. And I will say I love my twisty lock .

Silver Dawn Jewelry

Silver Dawn Jewelry is another shop that offers hair accessories. They also offer a variety of different jewelry. But what I love from this shop are their hair pins. I have a few different types, and they're simplistic yet elegant style makes them a frequent addition to my daily life.

They offer hair forks, as well as hair sticks that look similar to pins. I have used mine to keep large hair fall pieces in place. But the shop also offers jewelry pieces to add a delicate yet sturdy detail to your outfit. These pieces make great gifts for people with long hair, and take little time to learn how to use.

Project Om Jewels

Jewelry from this shop is sure to make a statement, and offer a unique glimpse into who you or your loved one are. The pieces are often inspired by topics in magic, lore, and superstition. The style varies, but has a very high end chic and boho feel to it.

Project Om offers some gorgeous ouija inspired planchette pieces, crystal ball styled necklaces, and a wide variety of small to large designs to appeal to even the more reserved dresser.

Music Monday : Happy Birthday Blog!

No it's not my birthday, but it is the anniversary of the blogs first post. It's finally turned 6! At least I think it's 6...  Isn't that a nice thing? I hadn't even realized that we've been doing this that long. Which also means I have to admit to being excited that I've stuck with this, even if there has been a few quieter times. I'm going to get myself sorted out. I have been the past couple of months, and I'm happy to be able to share things with you even if I don't get to see many of you face to face often.

Growing up seems to ruin friendships, as people grow apart. Not always because we want them to. But situations get in the way. Working opposite shifts at work, day shift, evening shift. Makes it hard to make plans at times. But that doesn't mean you don't still love your friends.

In the long run it's all about the memories we make. So I hope you have the chance to make many memories with the ones you love. Because someday, the memories might be all you have left.

Stay magical and have a great week.

Egypt Central : White Rabbit

Ivy : Worry About You

The Mills Brothers : Till Then

Hijacking the Blog for Off the Shelf!

Hi, my names is Amanda, and I'm hijacking Katie's blog.  Wait!  Wait!  Don't rebel yet - it's with permission.  She asked me to do some book reviews, as she knows I'm a hard-core reader, and I have a backlog to share with you.

My name is Amanda, Katie and I have been friends for more years than either of us wants to own to, but I feel like she is my sister.  I'm glad to do this for her, but I'm a bit of an easily-distracted scatterbrain, so I'm way behind.  I'm hoping to make it all up to her, though.

About me:

1) I like books.  A lot.  As a change from Katie, I prefer solid book form to an e-book, as I tend to multi-task on a computer a lot, and I also lose my place a lot easier when I'm reading from an Adobe-like file.  I love the feel of a book in my hands, new or used, and the ambience and smell of a library or a good used book store is amazing to me.

2) I own a menagerie.  Four cats, a moose disguised as a dog, about a dozen fish in two aquariums, a hamster, and now an axolotl.  It keeps me busy.

3) Since agreeing to do these reviews, I've bought a house, renovated, moved, and supported my fiance through the trials of getting his NREMT (he just completed this within the last month).  So I slacked off horribly, which left your book reviews in limbo, me being a bad friend to Katie, and more on her shoulders.  But I'm gonna try to change all that now.

4)  Back to books... I like to think my favorite genre is fantasy, but honestly, it's romance.  Now that I'm older, I can admit this, though I promise not to deluge with a bunch of torrid x-rated items.  Not really my thing, and I do have more varied tastes.  Just do not be surprised if some of the fantasy or other items have at least a tiny bit of romance somewhere in there... but I also have Katie's list, and a treasure trove of books from before I became Prince Charming obsessed to fall back on, so you're in for a variety.

Enough with excuses and introductions... It's nice to meet you all, I'll hopefully see you fairly regularly, and she hopefully won't kick me off her blog when she sees my taste in books.

Ciao, book lovers!

Shopping for Flair

Flair is an interesting word. People like to think of themselves as individuals. They want to have flair. They also say swag, but swag doesn't give me the same joyful feeling. Today I'm going to share a few shops that I think offer some really fun types of flair to add to wardrobes. Shirts and accessories go a long way to giving us each a unique look. They also are useful for helping us to share things we enjoy with the people around us.

Flair invites interest and thought, as well as questions. What is that from? What does it mean? Where can I get one too? It also lets you personalize your look. Today the recommendations might be considered unique, but I know someone out there is looking for the same things I am. So happy hunting, and may your shopping be a delightful experience.

Jess Adorables.

Jess Adorables used to be called Ragamuffpins. I have some of her pieces in my collection and recently ordered a couple more. I can't even begin to tell you how much detail is put into the pins. They are both great additions to a collection, as well as fantastic conversation starters. Jess Adorables offers a variety of products including but not limited to enamel pins, clothing, and art prints.

Two Ghouls Press

Two Gouls Press has a wide variety of products, including sci fi and horror movie themed patches. I find patches to be a fun accessory that can add detail to a bag....coat...shirt....or anything you decide to add it to. They also have a collection of pennants to add a vintage fun look to decor. I'm personally torn between the Hocus Pocus Pennant and the Cereal box monsters one. I hope I make up my mind before they're sold out.

Jeremy Dolce

Jeremy Dolce has a unique collection of apparel products that pay homage to some of the cult classics from your youth. Music Monday : November Drags On

November seems to be moving along much slower than the past ten months did. Which leads me to question why the rest of the year sped along, but now that it's getting chilly things are slowing down. Slowing way to far down to be honest. But that doesn't mean we have to stop going forward.

Winter will be here soon enough. So let's enjoy what time we have left and enjoy the  chillier fall days we have left.

What's on Screen? Clan Tynker Presents The Dream Train

So when we're out and about going to various events we have the pleasure of seeing all kinds of amazing acts. Musicians, artists, and actors. This is sometimes frustrating because when we see amazing shows we want to share with people we care about. This particular film is an example of this.

Clan Tynker is a family circus group and they have been performing at the Sterling Renaissance Festival now the past two seasons that I attended. While sometimes it's easy to keep your group together this year the part of the group I really thought would enjoy Clan Tynker, got distracted after lunch and missed the show.

So being a good aunt, I purchased this movie figuring they will enjoy it just as much. And while the kids have yet to watch it, I HAVE watched it more than once, and I find it very enjoyable.

Unlike the live show which has a much more circus like approach, The Dream Train is more steampunk. Not a bad thing at all, as it's also something we enjoy. And since the kids in my life LOVE trains more than most things, I know they're going to love this video.

There are a few moments where there are flashing images on the screen, and those didn't sit to well with me, but it's not the fault of the artists. I' just acknowledging it because I know other people have a sensitivity to it as well. The flashing images are infrequent though, they were just unexpected.

I HIGHLY recommend this video. It's creative, as well as inspires the imagination of the viewers. A great video to watch with your family.

Small Shops for Amazing Results

Small shops are amazing options for locating unique gifts for your friends and family. They offer a variety of unique items that you won't find in stores, where mass produced items are the majority of offerings. Many small shops are ran in people's homes where they spend their time working on their crafts to create the pieces  that they offer to the world at large. Many of these shops offer some meaningful gift options that may take the artist some time to create and match the demand. So you should keep this in mind when you think about ordering items to get them on time.

So today I want to share a few smaller business with you that I think you should consider looking at for collecting pieces for the holidays, and even birthdays that pop up yearly in your life. Please remember, since these shops make each item by hand, the earlier you order, the easier it is to be sure it will arrive in time for the holidays. Also, it's polite. Art takes time.

 Violet Phoenix Designs

Fandom inspired gifts tend to be a hot commodity around the holidays. After all, nothing makes someone smile like a gift that clearly shows you've taken an interest in what they're interested in. Or at least have tried to. Violet Phoenix Designs creates everything from gorgeous fandom inspired aprons, to ties for any occasion. You might even be able to find a christmas stocking for that hard to shop for loved one.

I have an amazing pair made in a scrap colorway that's unique just for me. I call them my weasly mittens. Rieshaw Knits does most of her work by commission to you can always ask if there's something you're interested in having made as a unique gift for a loved one or yourself.

716 Wooden Buffalo : Handcrafted Bentwood Rings

Have someone in your life that has a metal allergy? I know a number of us have people we love that can't wear rings that we can easily gain access to due to the mixed metal content.  And let's be honest, silver and gold can get really expensive to purchase around the holidays. So why not look at this gorgeous wooden rings as an alternative?

Facebook : 716 Wooden Buffalo : Handcrafted Bentwood Rings
Website : 716 Wooden Buffalo: Handcrafted Bentwood Rings

I hope that you're feeling inspired. Because I know the closer the holidays get, the harder it is to find a meaningful gift. I have a few gifts left to find myself. But that's what makes looking into shops like these so much fun, they frequently offer unique options not carried in our local stores.

Music Monday : It's November Already?

Where has this year gone? In some ways it's a relief that 2017 has sped past in the way that it has. But there are some things that have happened that have made it a bit hard to swallow. But hey, that happens right? But it's monday again meaning it's time to think about music to get us off for a great start.

This week I think we're going to go with some older music because it's inspiring me lately. Notice the key word, this is the music inspiring me lately. Let that sink in a little. I hope some of it inspires you and that you have a magical week.

Holiday Shopping Starting Line

I have to get something off my chest. I finished the majority of my holiday shopping before August. Seeing as my list is around 42 people long, I have found it beneficial to spread the shopping out over the whole year, so when the holidays roll around, and now I only have 5 people to shop for, the sting isn't as painful.

But what about all the people who are starting holiday shopping now?

Well they're likely going to be watching for sales, but there are other options as well. After all, whole people may enjoy a video game or new tie, you can get them a more meaningful handmade gift instead, and often times for a similar cost.

Now, it is true that many people seem to be of the mind that a hand made gift is cheap. They're quite wrong, because these gifts require both forethought, shopping, and time to create. Or if you are going to purchase the gift from an artisan, it takes them time to create as well as ship your item.

So here's my warning shot. Christmas is now about 2 months off. In the next two weeks I'm going to be sharing a few gift ideas that you may find useful for some of your more difficult to shop for family members or friends.

I look forward to sharing the work of some amazing artisans and crafters with you, and I hope you'll find some inspirations in the works they create.

Music Monday : Happy Halloween

Let's be honest, I know not everyone celebrates Halloween. But that doesn't mean I can't share the fact that I am excited about it with you all. I am very excited about the holiday, and a little more excited because my seasonal position will be coming to an end soon giving me time to catch up and correct my lack of writing here.

So to celebrate I've selected a variety of song videos that brought a smile to my face for various reasons. I hope you enjoy them and have been celebrating safely. Happy Halloween!

Artist Spotlight : Michelle Mclean

Artists are each unique, providing a very useful thing to our society. It provokes thought as well as provides visually pleasing elements to our lives. Today we're going to be looking at some of the work of Michelle Mclean, and I want you to think about how people can help artists to create. Michelle currently has an account on Patreon where you can see more of her work, as well as help support her dream of working in the art field.

Michelle Mclean has been cultivating her artistic skills since she was in eighth grade. When she first started, she felt that her pieces weren't very good. A fact that she willingly stated in a phrase that many artists and creators are likely to understand. Michelle said "It kind of sucked when I started not gonna lie. The reason it sucked though was because I wasn't drawing the way my brain could work it. I use geometry to get the basic shapes an what not on the paper then I soften the edges to make it look more like the picture I am going for and less like a mess."

She took something she enjoyed, and has been working on it since, creating a unique feel that has an appeal for a variety of reasons. She has come to love making or drawing anything. Stretching her creative wings into writing as well, but she still likes drawing a lot.

Michelle has also explored her talents by serving her church as the art director for Vacation Bible School. She held the office for three years, until she turned it over to a relative that she believes is more qualified as they went to college for it.

When she was asked what the most difficult part of a project was, she had another familiar answer, which offers solidarity for the artistic types. The hardest part for any project, she believes is the ability to keep the gumption together to complete what she starts. Sometimes money can be an issue when it comes to a project, but more often than not it can be frustration of the piece not quite meeting her standards. When she gets too frustrated she often will walk away from the piece, and come back at another time when she's decided how to fix it, or give up on it and start from the beginning. She has several vignettes.

I asked her about her most recent project, and she said that it was a self portrait. She wanted to do this because it's her belief that she sees herself differently than other people see her. She chose to draw it in a semi realistic style, and was pleased with the way that it turned out.

I asked her what she felt the best advice would be to offer an aspiring artist. And she offered a rather interesting response.

"You are both your own best friend and own worst enemy. As I learned when I went to a workshop for a thing called nanowrimo which is an abbreviated way of saying national writing month. Lock your inner editor in a closet in your mind and let them kick scream holler and yell all they want but don't give in to them. If it is doing something like drawing or if it is writing either way you are your own harshest critic therefore if you are passionate remember there are some people who can literally throw paint on a canvas or in some cases even other things and sell it as art so if they can make a mess and sell it for 1 mil you can make your art and sell it too."

I really think that Michelle has a developing talent that many people might enjoy watching.  The image to the left, is one of my favorites from the portfolio she shared with me. I love the light lines, and the flow of the body works well. Plus I have a very soft spot for anime animal people of late. I don't know why, I just do.

If you're interested in seeing what other types of art Michelle Mclean has to offer you can join her feed on Patreon. Remember that every artist that uses Patreon is creating for their fanbase, as well as for the love of their art. They're looking for your input and support. Plus they enjoy the challenges patrons offer at time.

I've recently moved which left me in a bit of a pickle when it comes to how daily life was going. It was difficult to keep everything processed, since things aren't going at all the way I had planned or hoped. But things are slowly settling back into place, which is a bit of relief in a way.

I've had the pleasure of seeing some old friends, as well as some newer ones of late. Which did wonders for lifting my spirits. They have been a bit darker than I like of late, but that happens to everyone, not that it's a bad thing, it's just  a thing.

But I've also been working two jobs and trying to sort out where I am. It's not as easy as people might think. After all, where I am might not be where I was expecting to be. WHich is neither good or bad, it just is what it is.

I also got to help with a volunteer event in Dunkirk, to help support a camp there. If you check my facebook page you can see a video of the walkthrough, just be aware it strobes.

Anyway now that I've confessed about some of what I've been up to, let's enjoy some parodies and covers, and enjoy some costumes. Hope you're going to have a great holiday celebration.

Music Monday : A New Chapter

Sometimes things go upside down, for no good reason. I've had a bit of that recently, so I thoroughly apologize for being missing. But guess what we're back online and back in order.

The Long Losts and Jess-O-Lantern have released new albums recently, so today let's applaud their innovative sounds and songs. I hope you have a great day and have a magical week, let's get back on track.

What's on Screen? : Lucifer

We all spend time watching different shows and films once in a while. Recently I had a few days where I actually had a chance to spend some time doing nothing or watching tv. I did watch a few different things, and maybe I'll share them with you. Today I'm going to admit to a little bit of binge watching.

Lucifer, is a rather interesting show playing with the ideas of divinity and religion in a variety of forms. Angels, demons, gods, goddesses and all that. It sort of combines CSI and Supernatural, only not so many monsters. There's a huge amount of comic relief, and a lot of interesting plot lines.

I've binged through season one and have begun watching season 2. There's a sort of satisfaction in seeing the varied interactions. Life is full of complicated  situations, and these are often emulated by film and entertainment. It's fun to see a variety

I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far. I don't regret choosing this as a binge watch.

Personal Update : To Be Human

Sometimes there's a life event that makes it difficult to do the things you've been used to.  I do promise that things are going to get back to normal. Right now things aren't perfect. But I'm going to tell you a little bit about what's been going on, in a very sanitized manner.

I'm moving. The reason why isn't really ideal, but it's not something you're going to want to hear. But I do have an apartment as of wednesday. (Oh right that's today ^_^) And it's going to get interesting. Once everything gets straightened out I do think we're going to be ok. (We being me and the blog)

I have been working on the last two craft swaps I'm able to sign up for diligently. I am a little saddened that I won't be able to join any others for a while. Until I get settled in and once everything else is straightened out. I have been working for the past few months to complete my #siriusdisneycraftswap and #cryptocreatureswap packages. They get sent out this month (one sooner than another but that's neither hear nor there.)I did finish the #gdtcraftswap and I was very pleased with how my La Muerte doll came out.

I was also pleased with my #drseussswap2017 package that I sent out. I tried a lot of new things in that particular swap. I was also very happy about learning them, because it's beneficial to know a variety of skills when you dabble in different craft styles. I have to admit though, that I'm still apprehensive at times about the packages that I send out for swaps.

I am going to be planning a giveaway for January. I figure by then everyone will be tired of all the holiday stuff, and want something fun to break up the post holiday blues. Right now though there's no set date or plan. But January is the best bet I have for the time being., and I'm working on a few ideas. Right now the plan is to create a care package of things people born in the 80's and growing up in the 90's would remember fondly.

I'm also meeting some new artists, and looking into some new things that I'm hoping to be able to share with you in the not too distant future.

So thank you for being here with us, and remember to stay magical.

Music Monday : Back To School

It's time to go back to school. But not everyone is going back to school happy. I know I was afraid of going back, because school never was my happy place. In any case I want you to think positively and be yourself. Don't give up on everything just because of a few bad things, but don't think you're alone either.

Stay magical and be powerful, let the good things fill you with joy and don't dwell on the bad things.

Just Visiting : Maryland Renaissance Festival

We're really excited and hyped about our upcoming trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. We've been working on our outfits for months. And any details we didn't have finished when we attended the Sterling Renaissance Festival , have been adjusted and corrected.

But what exactly inspires us to go and participate in these events? I know a lot of people are curious why there are people that want to participate in events that remove so many familiar modern elements. But there's something people don't really see when they look at us in our attire, are the people who see this as a creative outlet.

There's a lot of creative people that you have a chance to meet when you're attending events like the Renaissance Festivals. There are amazing artisans who create artwork to enhance your daily life, to add beauty to a world that at times often looks cookie cut. We are in need of this to tempt and appeal to our own creative choices.

I love getting to see the art, as well as to hear and see the live performances at these events. Unlike some other events these live performances are each different. These events offer a plethora of beautiful people and things to see.

Yes there are some points that are fictional, and some things based on history. But it's wonderful to be able to enjoy it with like minded people.

Festivals offer the opportunity to enjoy the arts with others who may feel as excited about things as you are. This is what we love. Being able to see things with other people, and enjoy it.

So yes, if you have a chance to go to a festival, go and enjoy the art. Enjoy everything and have fun.

Why Not?

It seems like a lot of people are joining the Sarahah website, where people can leave anonymous messages, and I decided that maybe I should too. I mean why not? Most people aren't going to care and I'm sure a lot of people are going to be leaving negative messages anyway. But I figured I might as well join for the time being too.

I chose Teaghan to be my representative because, he has that deer in the headlight look, and I'm guessing it's how the site is going to make me feel in the end.

Music Monday - Be Bouncy

Sometimes we want to bounce and think outside the box of our daily life. Music helps us do this. But sometimes the messages music sends to us aren't the ones that people are initially looking for. So this week's music is a bit different than some of the choices that were shared of late. But I hope you enjoy them anyway.

I See Stars - Violence Bounce (People Lie)

One OK Rock - Clock Strikes

The Offspring - Why Don't You Get A Job

The Backstreet Boys - One Phone Call

Midnite Eve - Walk of Shame

Music Monday : Not Quite The Same

Today I chose songs with similar titles, that may seem to have very little in common with each other. But each song has a recurring theme that connects it to the others, and that's what helped inspire me to put them together like this.

I hope that this coming week you have a great time and that your summer has been going smoothly as well as safely along. Be magical and let us know what you're up to.

Ruth B - Lost Boy

Patty Griffin - Peter Pan

This Wild Life - Lost Boys

5 Seconds of Summer - Lost Boy

Sorry for The Dead Air

But I have been a little busier than I expected to be in the past few weeks. Sadly this means that I haven't had the time to write things for you, or to share some of the amazing artists  that I have been having the chance to enjoy. So I must let you know, that there will be a few reviews of some of the amazing things I've seen and participated in.

I have also been working on various craft and art projects. I really am enjoying the challenges presented by the craft swaps, to make something creative that someone else will enjoy. I also find that there are a large number of ideas that I am taking from paper into reality, and it's making me extremely happy to be able to create things. I've missed creating for a very long time, and having the challenges that I am making for myself are wonderful. I love being able to make things, other than drawings.

It's refreshing and it's bringing me back to life. At least that's how I feel. Works in progress are challenging my personal expectations. I have a project that has been giving me a lot of trouble, and I'm very disappointed that it hasn't gone the way I planned, but I can explain the problems that have been plaguing me more thoroughly after the package gets shipped out.

The painting above I've been working on for one of the swaps I'm participating in. This was 2 sessions into it I think, maybe 3. But It's looking pretty good now. But again you'll have to wait to see what it is looking like at the finish for a while.

This sketch though is one that I made for my boyfriend. He has it hung up at his cubicle at work. It's a lot of fun to make things for other people to enjoy. I really enjoyed making him smile. But yeah there are a few different images that you might see in the near future once I have finished them.

Anyway thank you for your patience and you'll hear some new things from me in the near future. We have got a lot of fun things in the work.

Just Visiting : Shakespeare in Delaware Park : Macbeth

Macbeth is a play many people get excited about having a chance to see. It's also a play that we have remembered lines from, "out damn spot!". Shakespeare in Delaware Park is performing the show for the rest of their season this summer.

July 27, 2017 through August 20, 2017

Yes I know you may have read this before but as a reminder please keep in mind the following information.

Tuesday through sunday evenings at 7:30 pm you can enjoy a free evening of professional theatre. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on, your own refreshments and someone to enjoy the show with, unless you prefer to sit alone. They do accept donations.

Like past years I do recommend that you head to the park earlier than show time to get better seats, as it is frequently crowded. There are some restaurants in the area, but it's better to bring something with you to enjoy during the show.

I know I mentioned it in the past, by I will repeat myself because there are only so many ways to say things at times. If you're uncertain as to the part of Delaware Park the stage is located in, it's basically behind the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Please keep in mind that parking is on a first come first serve basis, so if you wish to park closer to the event you should go early. If you have children there is a wonderful playground close to the staging area so the kids can play before the show if you come early enough.

The Most Beautiful Thing

Every day of our lives we interact with people that are different than us. No matter how different they are they should be granted the same respect that you look for yourself. Today is Disability Awareness Day (at least in the UK it is, so it's just as good for the rest of us to look at the day too!) So I wanted to share this video with you, because it spoke very loudly to me.

I also wanted to share an old article I read that made me smile, feel a little sad, but smile because of how bold and honest the writer was. https://specialolympicsblog.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/an-open-letter-to-ann-coulter/ I think it's impressive that he was willing to stand up for what was right, even though the person who it was directed to might not react positivly. You may also want to read this other letter because it's http://www.denverpost.com/2008/08/31/using-the-word-retard-to-describe-me-hurts/ honest as well.

All in all, I'm not looking to make a huge statement. All I want is to help you open your mind to look outside your comfort zone.

We're all different, some of us just have differences that have to be looked at with different eyes.

Love each other.

Just Visiting : Wild Renn Fest

I want to share an event that sounds like fun, which I have had a chance to attend once in the past. The Wild Renn Fest at Hawk Creek.

Held at Hawk Creek in East Aurora this family friendly event is both educational and entertaining. Held on two weekends this year, July 15 and 16 and July 22 and 23, you can enjoy a variety of activities as well as see over 100 different wild animals at the facility. Please be aware that the event has a small window in which it operates from 11 am through 4 pm on the stated days.

Image from Hawk Creek Website

There will be a flying bird show, as well as up-close animal encounters. Jarod Miller Animal Exploration will be at the event as well. If you feel inclined to dress up, do so. This event is important as it's one of their biggest fundraisers during the year.

The event features Medieval Games, and opportunities for various members of the family to enjoy challenging activities. In the past when I have had a chance to attend they've had live shows with music, as well as challenging scavenger hunts designed to help educate children and adults alike.

For more information you can contact Hawk Creek at 716 652 8646, as well explore information available on their website. www.hawkcreek.org

Spoon In Pudding

This is a poem that I wrote at the Albright Knox when I was visiting there in 2008. It was inspired by a few real life problems, rather things that I felt were problems. Nut anyway, hope you get a giggle out of it. It's a lot different than some of my more recent writing, but I think you might get an idea about the way I was feeling then and the things that were bothering me.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Spoon in Pudding"

Bite Your tongue
turn off the tv
and listen to me
you need to do laundry
the rugs need cleaned
and you're sitting there playing Halo 3

I know it's your hobby
but darling you know
i hate the way your sloppy
in my domain, my home

you try to claim sanctuary
and hide in your room
but i swear am gonna make you
eat the friggin broom

i know your friend's on your side
of course they're on yours
they say you're being taken for a ride
but your mother's on my side

she says you need to clean up
you need to take a break
before i put that Xbox
through our front window
and your neck in a brace

what's that you're done playing?
your mom's at the door?
good riddance to that damn thing
it's going to the kids next door.
