Music Monday : Last Monday of 2020

To be fair, it felt like 2020 was never going to end. A lot of the problems that we have had this year are not going to be going away as we enter 2021, but maybe we will see some new growth or changes that may be positive. We can hope at least.

The music that I'm choosing for this week, most of it is different music that I've bumped into while listening to Spotify at work. I've added some of the songs to a playlist on there that I listen to when I can because it brings me enjoyment, and helps with my anxiety. Silly I guess, but at this point I'll take help in any form that I can get.

Anyway, I hope your week goes well, and that you are safe and healthy in the new year.

Be You.

Music Monday : It's almost Over

2020 and the holiday season are both almost over. It's been a rough year. It doesn't really look like it's going to get any better either. But what we can do is have hope that things will start to feel a little less stressful over the next few months.

I hope you're safe. I Hope you're healthy. I hope you have a reason to smile. Be safe this week and enjoy the holiday with the ones you love.

Off The Shelf : Nice Dragons Finish Last

It's been a while since I posted a fresh book review. You've been getting a number of posts from the old blog, and while I should feel slightly sorry for that, I don't. I'm trying to keep things rolling, and it's not easy. But today we have a freshly finished read to share. So I'm tickled about that.

Nice Dragons Finish Last
by Rachel Aaron
287 Pages
(I read the digital edition)

I read this book after having it recommended to me by a friend. I've been having trouble being able to stay focused on a book long enough to finish one. Yes I've read a few short stories, but novel of any kind have been a struggle. Partially due to stress, but that's not what we're supposed to be looking at today.

This is a light read with a recommended age range of 13-18. While there are some references to adult activities, I don't feel they are so out of place to require a warning about them.

Music Monday : Holidays Already?

Sure... Why not. There's only three Mondays before Christmas so why not. This year hasn't been spectacular in general. And to be  honest my holiday spirit has been lacking for a long time anyway. I can pretend to be happy, but that doesn't really change the way that I feel inside. But I will say I think I am working my way through some things. Because I "found" a holiday spirit. It's just... sad.

Anyway I hope you're safe, healthy, and able to stay warm. There's only a few more weeks of 2020 left, we can get through this.

Vera Lynn : The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot

Merle Haggard : Lonely Night

Frank Sinatra : Whatever Happened to Christmas

Mariah Carey : Miss You Most

The Supremes : Just A Lonely Christmas

Personal Update: Keep Hanging In There

Let's be honest. 2020 has been awful in general. The number of people that have died over the course of this year alone, whether from Covid 19 or other causes, feels immense. In the grand scheme of things it has left me feeling insignificant, as there  seems to be very little that I can do for anyone. Which fueled my anxiety and depression into an inferno.

So for the past month or so I was trying a new medication, which only brought back symptoms I had believed were under control. Turning me even more into a blanket slug. Thankfully I stopped taking it for now, with doctor permission. I feel better than I did on that medication, But I still don't feel entirely myself again.

But I know I am not alone in feeling this way. So many other people out there are feeling.... trapped? Uncertain? Lost?

We feel like in the grand scheme of things no one cares about what happens to us or to those around us. It's absolutely frustrating and discouraging.

But that doesn't mean we want to give up... but sometimes it feels like giving up is the only option available to us.

It's not going to be getting any easier over the coming months. In fact it will be getting more complicated. So ... remember you're not alone.

None of  us are really alone.
