Music Monday : Movie Manic

One of the things I did this weekend was get my movies sorted and put away into one place. Mostly? Which lead me to discover that I have a few duplicates, but considering the volume and variety of movies in my collection, that isn't too bad.

Which leads me to wondering if I should make a list of the cd's that I have in my collection also. But I don't see why that would be as much of a problem. Cd's get scratched more often than my dvd's do.

In any case, I thought today it would be fun to pick songs that appear on movie soundtracks. So here's hoping you have a great week, and once I get the music list sorted out and cleaned up I will be replacing the currently active movie list here with the updated list. Alphabetized and everything, because my S.O. thinks it would be easier to reference that way.

Book Shelf Revisited: Something Different For Valentine's Day

To be honest Valentine's day is the one day of the year I dread more than any other. I've yet to have a pleasant experience on it, and I am not going to be planning on having a good experience on it this year. But that doesn't matter. I found an adorable book that I just HAVE to share with you! (regardless of how I personally feel about the matter of Love)

Fixing Cupid

Cristian YoungMiller

438 pages

Don't let the page numbers daunt you. This is a fast read, the story is fun and you never know what is going to come next.

It revolves around a character named Ben and his troubles with love. If you don't believe me, just read the first 6 pages, you'll know enough that you'll likely be as intrigued as I was.

His best friend decides to try and help him 'fix' his problem, by helping him put his life back together. But as the story continues, we wonder if the fix is causing more trouble than it is worth.

Due to most of the content of this book, I do NOT recommend it for readers that are not capable of dealing with sarcasm and adult situations. It also helps to have a sense of humor and a slight idea about romantic history.

Why did I like this eBook? Well, it was cheerful, pleasant, and there are a large number of comedic moments that shine. It is a piece that will appeal to both genders, and there's a happy ending.

I guess I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Music Monday : One Month Done, Next Started

2020 has been crazy so far, From a number of stand points. Personally as well as not. But the first month is finally over. There's not really anything good that happened in January other than my vacation. Which I know I promised to share more of, I just haven't had time to sit down and write. My bad.

So today, I'm going to have to be open minded. But that means today, the music choices should be interesting(though I hope they usually are). Because I should be positive. Let's be positive! February can be better than January. I know we are about 10 days in. So let's try to fight through the late winter/early spring blues. But... there is a shadow yet lingering. But it will end. Everything does eventually.

Pending Updates

I know that it is going to be a little bumpy as I work out what the current time is going to mean for me. What I do know, is that I am not going to be giving up anytime soon. I just need to take time to get a schedule of both ideas and time sorted.

I am currently working on getting back to creating in various mediums. This is good and bad, because I want to be better at writing things and sharing ideas. But I don't know what I am really thinking about as far as moving forward.

I like doing the music monday posts, and sharing some of the music that makes me happy. But I also know I need to do some updates around here.

I need to update my movie list to add some of the films I have added to my collection. I also know that my Boyfriend would appreciate it if I redid the list in alphabetical order. Why is this something I am ok with working on?

Well it has made it easier to keep us from repurchasing films that we already have. He has admitted that if it hadn't been for the list he would have repurchased a large number of films he already owns.

I am also working my way through some of the older content and debating how best to continue.

Any ideas? Yeah it should be ok.

Fun and Games : Playing D&D

I don't know if I have mentioned it before, but I do play Dungeons and Dragons. Why am I bringing this up now? There are a few reasons. But one of the biggest reasons is because I feel it may be of interest to some of you. Because as the game seems to be becoming more acceptable, there are still questions or reservations among some.

The group I currently play with has been playing together for almost 2 years now. We started originally as an educational group, being run as a homebrew. As time went by, we have changed to the Adventure League structure. This has both positives and negatives. One positive is the ability to play at conventions and special events with the characters we may use on a weekly basis. This makes it much easier to be familiar with a characters abilities and skills. One of the negatives is it is not as open ended as a homebrew. The rules are less flexible, but it creates a good structure for continued use of a character.

We have had the pleasure of both playing and DMing games at local events. Some at conventions, and other events for charity. It has been interesting to see how varied the community locally is when it comes to preferred character builds. There are people working through a singular characters story through different modules and hardcover arcs. The difference this offers in comparison to homebrew, is that it is calculated, but not  as imaginative.

So the group I play with has a large number of kids that play with them now on Fridays. But our Sunday game is a bit different than it used to be. But the kid games are still fun. It's good for people practicing math skills, social skills, as well as problem solving. Mentally players explore unique situations that daily life may not offer. It's less stressful after all when a situation does not offer permanent repercussions.

In any case, I really do enjoy playing the game. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. But for now I am just letting you know that it the near future there will be more posts about some of the games. Maybe journal type looks into a game day. But for now, I'll let you go back to your Friday.

Thank you Brucie for my fancy metal dice. ^_^ Everyone says I roll too well when I am dming with them, but I still roll awful when I'm playing as a player. XD ^_^
