Music Monday : Not Quite The Same

Today I chose songs with similar titles, that may seem to have very little in common with each other. But each song has a recurring theme that connects it to the others, and that's what helped inspire me to put them together like this.

I hope that this coming week you have a great time and that your summer has been going smoothly as well as safely along. Be magical and let us know what you're up to.

Ruth B - Lost Boy

Patty Griffin - Peter Pan

This Wild Life - Lost Boys

5 Seconds of Summer - Lost Boy

Sorry for The Dead Air

But I have been a little busier than I expected to be in the past few weeks. Sadly this means that I haven't had the time to write things for you, or to share some of the amazing artists  that I have been having the chance to enjoy. So I must let you know, that there will be a few reviews of some of the amazing things I've seen and participated in.

I have also been working on various craft and art projects. I really am enjoying the challenges presented by the craft swaps, to make something creative that someone else will enjoy. I also find that there are a large number of ideas that I am taking from paper into reality, and it's making me extremely happy to be able to create things. I've missed creating for a very long time, and having the challenges that I am making for myself are wonderful. I love being able to make things, other than drawings.

It's refreshing and it's bringing me back to life. At least that's how I feel. Works in progress are challenging my personal expectations. I have a project that has been giving me a lot of trouble, and I'm very disappointed that it hasn't gone the way I planned, but I can explain the problems that have been plaguing me more thoroughly after the package gets shipped out.

The painting above I've been working on for one of the swaps I'm participating in. This was 2 sessions into it I think, maybe 3. But It's looking pretty good now. But again you'll have to wait to see what it is looking like at the finish for a while.

This sketch though is one that I made for my boyfriend. He has it hung up at his cubicle at work. It's a lot of fun to make things for other people to enjoy. I really enjoyed making him smile. But yeah there are a few different images that you might see in the near future once I have finished them.

Anyway thank you for your patience and you'll hear some new things from me in the near future. We have got a lot of fun things in the work.

Just Visiting : Shakespeare in Delaware Park : Macbeth

Macbeth is a play many people get excited about having a chance to see. It's also a play that we have remembered lines from, "out damn spot!". Shakespeare in Delaware Park is performing the show for the rest of their season this summer.

Yes I know you may have read this before but as a reminder please keep in mind the following information.

Tuesday through sunday evenings at 7:30 pm you can enjoy a free evening of professional theatre. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on, your own refreshments and someone to enjoy the show with, unless you prefer to sit alone. They do accept donations.

Like past years I do recommend that you head to the park earlier than show time to get better seats, as it is frequently crowded. There are some restaurants in the area, but it's better to bring something with you to enjoy during the show.

I know I mentioned it in the past, by I will repeat myself because there are only so many ways to say things at times. If you're uncertain as to the part of Delaware Park the stage is located in, it's basically behind the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Please keep in mind that parking is on a first come first serve basis, so if you wish to park closer to the event you should go early. If you have children there is a wonderful playground close to the staging area so the kids can play before the show if you come early enough.

The Most Beautiful Thing

Every day of our lives we interact with people that are different than us. No matter how different they are they should be granted the same respect that you look for yourself. Today is Disability Awareness Day (at least in the UK it is, so it's just as good for the rest of us to look at the day too!) So I wanted to share this video with you, because it spoke very loudly to me.

I also wanted to share an old article I read that made me smile, feel a little sad, but smile because of how bold and honest the writer was. https://specialolympicsblog.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/an-open-letter-to-ann-coulter/ I think it's impressive that he was willing to stand up for what was right, even though the person who it was directed to might not react positivly. You may also want to read this other letter because it's http://www.denverpost.com/2008/08/31/using-the-word-retard-to-describe-me-hurts/ honest as well.

All in all, I'm not looking to make a huge statement. All I want is to help you open your mind to look outside your comfort zone.

We're all different, some of us just have differences that have to be looked at with different eyes.

Love each other.

Just Visiting : Wild Renn Fest

I want to share an event that sounds like fun, which I have had a chance to attend once in the past. The Wild Renn Fest at Hawk Creek.

Held at Hawk Creek in East Aurora this family friendly event is both educational and entertaining. Held on two weekends this year, July 15 and 16 and July 22 and 23, you can enjoy a variety of activities as well as see over 100 different wild animals at the facility. Please be aware that the event has a small window in which it operates from 11 am through 4 pm on the stated days.

There will be a flying bird show, as well as up-close animal encounters. Jarod Miller Animal Exploration will be at the event as well. If you feel inclined to dress up, do so. This event is important as it's one of their biggest fundraisers during the year.

The event features Medieval Games, and opportunities for various members of the family to enjoy challenging activities. In the past when I have had a chance to attend they've had live shows with music, as well as challenging scavenger hunts designed to help educate children and adults alike.

For more information you can contact Hawk Creek at 716 652 8646, as well explore information available on their website. www.hawkcreek.org

Spoon In Pudding

This is a poem that I wrote at the Albright Knox when I was visiting there in 2008. It was inspired by a few real life problems, rather things that I felt were problems. Nut anyway, hope you get a giggle out of it. It's a lot different than some of my more recent writing, but I think you might get an idea about the way I was feeling then and the things that were bothering me.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Spoon in Pudding"

Bite Your tongue
turn off the tv
and listen to me
you need to do laundry
the rugs need cleaned
and you're sitting there playing Halo 3

I know it's your hobby
but darling you know
i hate the way your sloppy
in my domain, my home

you try to claim sanctuary
and hide in your room
but i swear am gonna make you
eat the friggin broom

i know your friend's on your side
of course they're on yours
they say you're being taken for a ride
but your mother's on my side

she says you need to clean up
you need to take a break
before i put that Xbox
through our front window
and your neck in a brace

what's that you're done playing?
your mom's at the door?
good riddance to that damn thing
it's going to the kids next door.

People collect things that are Alice in Wonderland theme, and music is one of the things I like to collect. I am definitely excited to share.
