Even a Fairy Godmother Needs a Break

I know that my writing of late has become very sporadic. Not only that, but it has also become uninformative. To put things simply, I don't feel inspired to say much. There are a lot of things that I could write, or look at. But what fun is there in making things up?

I kind of needed the break. We all need a break from what we're doing now and then, and for me this was an unplanned but useful amount of time. It's given me a chance to evaluate what we've been looking at and figure out what direction I want to go in from here.

So what has been going on behind the scenes here? To be blunt, nothing noteworthy. No, I'm not deathly ill. No, I have not managed to find a niche here yet. No, I most definitely have not forgotten the people that I love that are far away. They're just far away from me. And I am far, far, far away from them.

The funny thing is that my cousin told Squash that. Because he was using a map to learn about where we are. He thinks we're on a whole different planet. Or, in Far, Far Away like in the Shrek movies. He still wants me to go back. It's always 'come home'.

But it's hard to come home when you're not sure anymore exactly where home is. Home is a funny thing like that. Sometimes home is where everyone you know is. Sometimes it's the place where we hang our hats for a little while.  Other times it's where someone else is that makes it home to us.

I don't know where home is anymore.

Kind of sad in a way I suppose. But it's fair to say that the only way to figure out where home is is to evaluate the things that are valued. But how do you decide what really matters?

I really feel like I need a break at this point. I need something to go right. Something needs to happen that will shed some light on the directions I have to go in. But what?

I guess we'll just wait and see.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I will try to get things back into an almost predictable order. After all we all like something we can predict.

Order can be nice in this chaotic world.

Comics and Inspiration

Sometimes there is a comic that really speaks to us. Whether it's humorous, serious, simple or complex doesn't matter. The effectiveness of a comic is what it portrays and whether it offers a believable story to follow. We often think of those pages that came in the Sunday papers when we were kids when we hear the word comic, or of those small booklets of printed art we could pick up telling us stories in pictures.

But now comics can be found almost anywhere. But I want to share a couple I've read recently that I enjoyed, and that also said something that I can understand. Both the comics I'm sharing with you today are about the idea of following your dream, about aspiring for more. They look at how people change what they are in order to make ends meet, instead of being happy. So read them, and hopefully they will make you smile and think about some of the dreams you had, and still have time to pursue.

But every time we look through things like comics, each time we find something that has some sort of meaning to us, we often let it go. These small reminders...inspire us to want more, but frequently we are afraid to go ahead and strive to reach it. So this week, think about your dreams and what you'd like to see happen someday. There are a lot of things we can do, if we only try to do them. And we should read comics, look at art, and appreciate the talents of the people that surround us.

Zen Pencils does amazing comics like the one above, many based on inspirational quotes.
We should hold onto comics and art like these, let them remind us, that sometimes we are allowed to believe in ourselves. We're allowed to dream and hope for more in this world. Artists have often tried to help us remember this. Let them i spire us to pursue our dreams. After all, Rome was not built in a day. There are many experiences that we will have before we find the right spot. But remember, you won't find the right spot if you do not try to look.

Don't be afraid to try, if you never try, how do you know it can't be done?

Mornings & Bats

So it's another sunny morning here on the west coast. Outside there are some birds chirping, not any particular kind, just birds. I can't see them, but they're loud so I know they're there. It's Friday, there's not really a rush on the street here. Then again, it's a side street, there isn't usually a rush. But am still stretching and yawning from where I am.

And because it IS morning, and I'm not sure what to tell you all at the moment, we're gonna see two pictures that were sent my way by a friend ^_^. They make me smile, and am betting those of you who know me best will understand why. I don't own the images, I just enjoy them.

This is how I feel in the morning.

Batman & The Haunted Mansion, how can you NOT love this one?
Okay folks! Sorry for making it short today. Let's just say I've got a bit on my mind, maybe I will fill you in later this weekend, or maybe, just maybe later today if I can think of how to explain. In any case I hope you have a wonderful day. Remember, the only one who can truly limit your potential is you.

Perspective

So the past month has been full of ups and downs. But that's the way that life is. We're all given choices to make, and our choices influence the way things in our lives go. So keep your mind open, and remember that  there are multiple ways to see something. That's what helps to keep life interesting.
