Music Monday : Z

I was so close to having the alphabet finished in time to have a halloween special. But I guess we can't have everything we want.

On the bright side we have finally reached the letter Z, and I feel slightly accomplished. It might not mean anything to you, but to me, well It feels wonderful to have completed a self imposed challenge. Even if it is a bit of a silly one.

The word of the week is :

zymurgy :  branch of chemistry dealing with brewing and distilling

Not sure where you will have a chance to use that word, but I chose it because of the Oktoberfest advertising I've seen all over.

Ok we've finally made it to Z!  One of the song's I selected makes me think of Animal singing from the Muppets. But I hope You've enjoyed our alphabet challenge.

Golly I'm writing in circles tonight, I'm sorry. Just a bit tired.

Zombie Hunter - We're Never Going To Find Them

Zwei - Movie Star

Zendaya - Replay

ZombieSuckers - Graveyard A Go Go

Music Monday : Y

Y is actually a really hard letter to find music for.  Yes I'm back on the ball, almost. I'm trying at least. I know todays post is going to be going up a bit late. But that's going to happen now and then. And if you've been with is for a while you know that I almost always pop back up again. It just takes me a bit to re organize.

The word of the week is :

yenta : gossip or busybody

I know it may seem like a weird word. But with the way my week has gone so far (and it IS only Monday)I really think it is an appropriate word. Anyways, here's the music for the week, inspired by and brought to you by artists of the letter Y.

Your Favorite Martian - Club Villain

Yusuf - My People

The Young Friends - I won't Break Your Heart

Yuna - Live Your Life

The Yardbirds - Got Love if You Want It

Music Monday : X

I hate to say it, but for my personal collection X is a rather slim letter. Maybe some of you know some bands starting with an X that I don't? Feel free to leave some recommendations if you feel so inclined. Because I had a hard time prising these gems out of my library.

The letter of the day as you have guessed by now is X. So let's see what the word of the week is.

Xenomania : inordinate attachment to foreign thing

I'm not sure if any of you will have a chance to use this word during your daily lives. But right now.. I feel like it is an interesting word to throw out there. I hope you have a magical week.

Xandria - Ravenheart

X Ambassadors - Nervous

XP8 - Muv Your Dolly

XV - Best Wishes

Music Monday : W

We've almost finished the alphabet! And If I stay on track, I may even get to do a special post for Halloween! Though, I could do one anyway and just... push back whatever letters I have neglected by then. But hey, who knows right?

Todays music selections are brought to you by the letter W, and the word wyrd. Please see the definition below.

wyrd : the personification of fate or destiny

An example of wyrd, would be the three fates. They often tell destinies or various futures, giving warnings or encouragement. This gets them referred to as the Wyrd Sisters in some stories.

There ya go, your word of the week, and how about our five song choices. I got to include one of my personal favorites this week, can you guess which one that is?

Willa Ford - Haunted Heart

The Wreckers - Crazy People

Wild Orchid - Our Lips Are Sealed

The Wallflowers - God Don't Make Lonely Girls

Within Temptation - Stand My Ground

Music Monday : V

Today is another Monday, and we have almost reached the end of the alphabet challenge. I know that there were a few silent weeks where I didn't write at all, and I am sorry about that, but... I have had a lot going on I am hoping to have better solutions than dead air in the near future. But it all depends on what the doctors tell me. Yeah I know i sound like a broken record, but my health has finally been put on a...front burner so to speak. And I would really like to be feeling better sooner rather than later.

The letter of the week is V! It's an odd letter and was a little harder to find artists in my personal library that started with V. But I did manage it, and the word of the week is also a V. Of course.

Venery : pursuit of sexual gratification; hunting; pursuit of game

Well that is an odd word I suppose. But I thought it may be something of interest as with fall coming many people will be starting to go out hunting. Deer will be in season soon enough, and we'll have to watch for them on the road.

Here's hoping you have a great week and that there is something wonderful waiting for you at the end of it.

The Veronicas - Take Me On The Floor

Vanessa Hudgins - Sneakernight

Van Stephenson - Modern Day Delilah

Verticle Horizon - Best I've Ever Had

Vanessa Carlton - Ordinary Day

Music Monday : U

I'm so excited because the kids go back to school in our district this week. I'm so happy about this. It may not mean anything for most people, and technically because I personally don't have a child, it may seem weird. But it will be nice to go back to the evening schedule.

today's music choices are brought to you by the letter U. Which also means we need a word of he day that is fun and something that might be interesting to tell a child about.

So we have chosen a funny sounding word, uranoscopy.

uranoscopy : star-watching

I don't think I've met anyone who can say they don't enjoy star watching and gazing every now and then. After all the nights will be getting longer here in the northern hemisphere soon, so we will have crisp fall air, and hopefully clear skies to enjoy the stars.

Anyway here's some music choices to help you enjoy your week, brought to you by the letter U.

Uncle Kracker - Smile

U2 - With or Without You

Uriah Heep - Sympathy

Unwoman - Billie Jean

Unwritten Rulz - Broken Hero

Music Monday : T

There has been a bit of a delay and break up on when I've been posting. I am sorry about that, but to be honest I am having trouble focusing on the screen of my laptop. Not that anyone is paying that much attention.

In any case, there are only 7 days left in the alphabet challenge I gave myself, and If I can manage to finish it before the end of this year I will be quite happy with myself.

But what is the word of the week?

tragomaschalia : smelly armpits

The word itself is kind of funny, and if it had managed to be issued earlier int he summer I bet many of us would have had a chance to use it out in the wild. But for now, let us be content with the idea that summer ends soon and the kids will be headed back into school soon. Yay?

Timbuk 3 - The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades

Tatu - all the things she said

T Mills - Stupid Boy

Third Eye Blind - Semi Charmed Life

Trio - Da Da Da

Music Monday : S

Sometimes it really is hard to pick up the pace again and get back to the keyboard. Summer has been a little difficult to be honest. But I do know that things are going to be improving soon. Because fall is coming. ^_^

The word of the day is an odd one, but I know a few people that have had the pleasure of experiencing.

somniloquence : talking in one's sleep

I didn't even know there was a designated word for it. So there we go, the word of the week is somniloquence. I hope you have a chance to use it in everyday conversation to baffle your friends, and just make them think you've been dusting off your vocabulary. Have a great week and we'll be back on track soon (hopefully). I'm really trying.

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermints

Sugar Hill Gang - Apache(Jump On It)

Music Monday : R

I really have been falling off the horse with this alphabet challenge. I do apologize about that. But then, I don't really know if anyone has been paying attention to these or not. I do know I have been enjoying the challenge of sorting through my library to find different artists for each letter. So if nothing else that is fun.

The word of the week is RUCTION

Ruction is a disturbance or uproar.

I am unsure if anyone is going to be able to use it in their daily life this week. but if you do have a chance to I'd love to hear how you use it.

In any case have a great week and maybe you'll hear from me again soon.

Music Monday : Q

Q is a peculiar letter, we don't have a ton of use for it. So it was difficult to come up with things for this weeks letter. But hey, the word of the week, is a good one.

Quisling : one who aids the enemy; a puppet leader supported by foreign power

Heh. I hope you have a chance to use this word during the week. Because if I said what I was really thinking things would get ...awkward.

The Quakes - Rocker

Quiet Riot - Cum on Feel the Noize

Queens of The Stone Age - Mosquito Song

Queen - Under Pressure

Queensryche - Walk In The Shadows

Music Monday : P

Please be patient with me. I've been having a few rough days, not that anyone is at fault. But it is causing me to lose any gumption. I've been pretending a lot more that things are ok, even though I just want to curl up and give up.

But enough about me. Let's see, we're on the letter P now in the alphabet challenge I think? I hope so because that's the letter we're going to do.

Also the word of the week is phantasmatography. I like it because it's long and I bet kind of odd to say. When I say it out loud I think I sound a little silly. so I guess it works.

Phantasmatography : scientific description of rainbows and other luminous atmospheric phenomena

Have a great week, and I'll let you know if something awesome happens. Please remember Cat and Falcon is from the archives, and will be having updates here over time. But feel free to peruse the web to find it's original posting if you want. But it might be easier to read it here as a serial.

Have a great week and we'll be back with you soon.

Pam Tillis - Maybe It Was Memphis

Play - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me

Music Monday : O

This weeks letter was O. It was a little more difficult to pick artists associated with this letter, because I'm finding that the further along i get there's a lot of letter that don't have a ton of entries in my library. Phhh.

But I did pick a rather interesting word for the week. It's one that maybe with the dawning of spring, might be usable if you end up going on any wine tours.

Oinomancy : divination using wine

Maybe it is an odd word, but it was interesting to me. So have a great week and stay magical!

Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks

O-Zone - Noma Numa Yei

One Republic - Counting Stars

Orianthi - According To You

Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight

Music Monday : N

I'm kind of getting tired of the alphabet challenge. It's getting more difficult to pick out artists from my collection that go with various letters. It's also getting harder to focus on the idea. I keep getting distracted by different things. But that's ok I guess. We have to be on the downward slope of the alphabet by now right?

Yeah... today is the letter N. So the word of the week is nasute.

nasute :  keen-scented; critically discriminating; having a big nose

But yeah... it's another monday. To be honest... I'm a little tired lately, I don't really know why, but it's a work in progress. It will get better eventually.

Norah Jones - Don't Know Why

Nelly Furtado - Maneater

Nightwish - Moondance

Natalie Imbruglia - Wishing I Was There

Music Monday : M (yeah I know it's a little late)

Music monday on a wednesday? Unfortunately, yeah. I'm trying to keep a schedule in order, but atm it's a little difficult. It's been a rough weekend and the past two days were...different. But I'm trying to keep something at least a little normal around here.

But there is a brightside! This weekend we're going to be going to see the fairy and gnome houses at the Botanical Garden. That will be a slight change of pace and a little refreshing. Plus it is likely to be all indoors, and gives us an excuse to dress up.

The word of the week is mythography.

mythography is the descriptive study or representation of myths.

I hope your week is amazing, and that the last two days of this week go smoothly for you. I know that things may seem like they have gotten a bit wonky, but it's going to be ok. Next month will be better. Remember, summer is coming.

Matchbook Romance - Farewell to Friends

The Moffatts - Love

Modest Mouse - Float On

Motion City Soundtrack - My Favorite Accident

Mark Wills - Don't Laugh At Me

Music Monday : L

This weeks music monday is actually a music tuesday, but I hope you will forgive me. I had a lot going on recently that was preventing me from getting focused. But I think I'm a little better today and I have this weeks alphabet challenge ready for you. L was kind of hard.

The word if the week is Lygophilia. Lygophilia is the love of darkness. It sounded like something that might be interesting to have used in sentences.

And oye! It's still snowing here in the Buffalo area. I wish spring would come already. I hope the weather where you are is nicer than this. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week!

Lenka - Anything I'm Not

Lilly Allen - The Fear

Luka Bloom - Gypsy Music

Music Monday : K

This weeks letter is K. Which should have gotten me to pick songs full of my own name....not. But you know what I mean. But let's look at the word of the week.

katzenjammer :  hangover; uproar; clamour

That's a doozy! But it should be a fun word to use or at least try to use. So here's hoping you have a magical week and I'll see you soon I hope. If you wanna find me check the facebook page to see if I'm up to anything, and sometimes my instagram account can give you an idea about what I'm up to. The next thing that I think will be coming up is memorial day. So we'll see what that brings us in May.

Kate Bush - The Red Shoes

Kaitlyn - Friend

Kittie - Paperdoll

Kate Rusby - The Village Green Preservation Society

Keith Urban - Making Memories of Us

Music Monday : J

It has been a rather eventful weekend for us here. There were some mishaps that resulted in someone I love a lot getting hurt, but there was nothing that I could have done to prevent it. One of my cousins tied the knot with her mate (and they look so happy together). My mom did a bunch of hospital visits, out of state. Which we all know is probably going to be a problem with the insurance come the bill arrivals.

I still haven't heard back yet about the convention table. Which... is what it is. If I don't have one we'll just figure something else out. Right now we're looking into options and getting a little more creative. Because if we're scared forever nothing will ever happen.

So this week's word is jecoral. I chose it because of the little bit of good news that we did get, and that was for my brother concerning his liver troubles. He was told after they checked him over that, what he has going for him is that he's old. He may be fine, or he could die. But they're just going to keep watching him. Meaning, he's not in as much danger just yet I guess.

jecoral :  of, like or pertaining to the liver

And with that, let's get to this weeks music. Remember we're still working our way through the alphabet challenge. CHoosing bands whose names start with certain letters. And it's getting harder. Maybe we'll do another challenge later on where we choose the songs the same way. I don't know though. We'll see.

Stay Magical!
Jason Mraz - Wordplay

Jim Carroll Band - People Who Died

Jessica Simpson - Where You Are

Jonathan Coulton - Drinking With You

Jude Cole - Stranger To Myself

Music Monday : I

Today we continue the alphabet challenge, and it is admittedly getting a little more difficult. Since I'm only choosing from artists that are in my personal library, meaning there is a song of theirs in my collection (some being from albums containing various artists). But vowels are a little complicated it seems. And I'm finding that some letters are turning out to be more difficult than others (I'm trying to work ahead and what not but I'm finding it is getting harder towards certain sections of the alphabet).

The word of the week is one that may amuse some of you, as well as be useful for describing pets or various story characters.

inquiline :: living with another; dwelling in another creature's lair

Let me know if you find a way to use the word during the week. I hope you enjoy todays musical selections and keep it magical.

Imelda May - Big Bad Handsome Man

Iron Maiden - Fear of The Dark

Incubus - Turning Japanese

Indigo Girls - Ghost

Iced Earth - The Last Laugh

Winter just seems to be stubbornly hanging around, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't start looking forward to spring. In fact, Easter and Saint Patricks Day are well on their way, so there's plenty of celebrations to think about. If nothing else that should help to perk some of us up.

Remember, after Easter there's always clearanced candy. ^_~

The word of the week is:

heliophobia fear of sunlight

I'm sure that this weeks word will be much easier to use at some point during the week. In any case have a wonderful week and we look forward to seeing you around soon. Stay Magical!

Hit The Lights - 100 Times

Last month was a very weird month, this year is just getting weirder. On the positive side, there's a chance that big change may be happening, and if there is big change... well... I may see some positive change sooner than thought. But for now... it's a matter of seeing if it is actually possible.

The word of the week is

gynaecocracy government by women; gynarchy

Maybe you will find a way to use it this week, if you do please let us know? In any case stay magical and have a great week.
